Casa Ocho
House Rules &
Important Information

  • Smoking – Casa Ocho is a NON-SMOKING condo. Please, if you or your visitors smoke, do it outside on the front patio/deck. I have provided chairs and table with ashtrays for your convenience.
  • Keys – You are responsible for the keys to the unit. Please do not give them to friends or acquaintances. If you loose a set I need to be notified ASAP so I can have my locksmith come and change the locks to protect the unit. If you loose the keys you will be charged to the full cost of replacing the 10 sets of keys I need to operate the rental and locks if necessary.
  • Security Condo Unit – Locking the unit is important. Both the metal gate and door to the unit need to be locked with the keys. Double locking the metal gate and single locking the wood door will secure the unit and protect your belonging and my unit. Please do your best not to slam the wooden and metal doors as this can cause damage to the locking mechanisms.
  • Security Condo Complex – Keep the main front entrance gate locked at the times indicated on the sign just inside the entrance. This will secure the complex from unwanted visitors and keep the condo safe.
  • Neighbors – Please be aware there are other units above and below and noise does travel. So please be considerate.
  • Pet Policy – Please no pets of any kind allowed.
  • Fans – There are fans in each bedroom and one in the kitchen and the one in the living room. They all have three speeds and are controlled by pulling on the chain. Additionally, they are all reversible so you can change the direction of the airflow if necessary. Please pull gently when changing the speed so as to not break the chain from the internal switch. When you leave for the day, leave them running and you will find a cooler and more comfortable place when you return.
  • Air Conditioning – There are air conditioners located in each bedroom and one large one in the living room/kitchen area. Each has a remote control located on or by each unit. Please do not run the units if you are not in the condo. To keep the place cool when you are gone, close the Mini Blinds and Drapes and keep the fans running. When you return, if you need to cool the place, turn on the units for 30 minutes and the place will be cool. Each unit will cool their individual areas within a short time, so leaving them on when you are not in the unit wastes electricity. Please help me keep the costs of rental reasonable by not leaving lights and the AC on when you are not in the unit. Electricity costs have risen almost double in the last two years and is a driving force in how I set rates. Thanks for your help and understanding.
  • Television Living Room – The unit in the living room is a 32” Sony that is tied to a Satellite. Leave the TV on channel 3 and use the remote with the red star on it. To increase the volume push the TV button on the remote and to change the satellite channels push the SAT button. A laminated list of music and TV channels is on the table under the remote control units.
  • DVD Player – Just under the TV in the living room is a DVD player. To make the unit work with the TV turn on the DVD player and push the “TV/Video button located at the bottom of the TV until it shows Line 1 on the TV screen. Put in the movie of your choice and use the remote for the DVD player to get it started. In the drawer below the TV is an array of movies for your use. Additionally, there is a Blockbuster store on Basilo Badillo just north of Insurgentes on the right side of the street (see laminated map of Puerto Vallarta on dining room table)
  • Televisions Bedrooms – These units are on the local cable system. They work better if you operate their tuning thru the VCR’s that are with the units. I have placed list of English channels next to each unit.
  • CD-Radio – On the kitchen counter is a CD player combination AM/FM radio. So bring your favorite music CD’s.
  • Internet – Wireless and direct wire routers are located next to the TV in the living room. The wireless password in located on the bottom of the wireless NETGEAR router. If you do not have a wireless setup, please bring your own CAT5 cable to direct wire your laptop to the NETGEAR router Please do not give the password out, thank you.
  • Telephone – The phone is located on the counter in the kitchen. It is for local calls only. The phone number is 222-5947. For those wanting to call you from the US or Canada they need to do the following – 011-52-322-222-5947. They can leave a message if you are not available to answer their call.
  • Cellular Telephones – Most carriers have plans that allow you to use your cell here in PV. Check with your carrier before you leave and make sure they set it up in there system and give you all the instructions on how to use and activate your service in PV.
  • Housekeeper – Housekeeping is weekly on Fridays. Additional service can be arranged and typically runs no more than 200-pesos for basic service. If you want more the price is negotiable. Vicenta is my Housekeeper and completely trustworthy. She usually on site at the complex Monday thru Friday normally in the morning by 10am. If you need additional service let me know and I will alert her that you will be contacting her.
  • Laundry – Basic laundry for sheets and towels is done by the housekeeper when the unit is cleaned. Unfortunately the laundry facilities on site are for her use only and for owners only. If you need laundry done there are many services available within 6 blocks and is reasonably priced. Normally if you drop off in the morning by 11am you can pick up after 4pm the same day.
  • Iron and Board – In the second bedroom closet is an iron and board. Please empty the water from the iron when you are done so the inside of the unit does not rust and clog.
  • BBQ – In the second bedroom closet is a small Weber BBQ. Briquettes and starter fluid can be found at most supermarkets.
  • Kitchen – The kitchen is fully stocked if you want to cook instead of hitting restaurants every night. It includes, Microwave, Coffee Pot, Toaster, Crock Pot, Hand Mixer, Blender, Waffle Iron, Pancake Griddle, Electric Fry Pan, Teapot and Small Food Processor. Dishes and glasses are in the cupboard, pots and pans are located under the kitchen counter and silverware and misc. utensils are located in the 4-drawer cabinet at the end of the bar.
  • Drinking Water – Next to the faucet in the kitchen is a special waterspout that provides filtered water for drinking, ice, etc. The filter is changed regularly.
  • Checkout Time – Noon. No exceptions. My housekeeper has to have time to turn the unit for the next renter. Thank you for your understanding.
